About the Author
Lin Jensen is the critically acclaimed author of the memoir Bad Dog! A Memoir of Love, Beauty, and Redemption in Dark Places and Pavement: Reflections on Mercy, Activism, and Doing "Nothing" for Peace. His first book, Uncovering the Wisdom of the Heartmind, received the Best Nonfiction/Spiritual Book award from Today's Librarian. His prose that has been likened to Steinbeck, and his wonderfully poetic writing has made him one of the most beloved of modern Buddhist writers. He has taught writing in various colleges and universities for over twenty years, and continues to teach Buddhist ethics and practices at Chico State University. He is the founding teacher and senior emeritus teacher of the Chico Zen Sangha, in Chico, California, where he lives with his wife.

The real stuff

Disclaimer: Lin has been a teacher of mine for about 10 years, and is a good friend.
That said, I've read a great many books of Buddhist teaching. Lin cuts to the chase--the real stuff of life. I highly recommend this book.

an open-hearted, personal guide to Buddhist living

I cannot recommend this book highly enough. Lin Jensen shares his experiences of applying Buddhist teachings to life in an open-hearted, honest and accessible way that makes him among the most effective and moving contemporary Buddhist writers. I will give this book to people I love and will read again myself time and time again, gaining more with each reading. This book deeply enhances each reader's life. I am very grateful to Lin Jensen for sharing his wisdom and experience with us all.

And the roof is blue . . .

According to Lin Jensen (and Zen teachings), the Buddha's household is all the world. This wonderful book is full of unadorned, simple and practical wisdom for getting along with our varied housemates and making things as comfortable for them as possible. This is a book that needs to be read and re-read and read again, a good friend.
