Well put together

I bought this book as a used book. It actually looks as if it just came off a bookstore's shelf. Everything in this book is shown in both English and Gaelic, even the title page,and copyright page. I love the way the index is put together. It lists the poems in both English and Gaelic.even though the Gaelic version follows the English version. The poems are laid out as mirror images. It is easy to check the opposite page and find the line you are trying to translate.

Gaelic Poetry Translated

This is a gift for my sister who traveled to Scotland. She mentioned she wanted to add a book in Gaelic to her collection. I have flipped through and appreciate the poems being translated. It is a thoughtful collection that makes me wish I knew more about Gaelic so I could enjoy the poetic elements like rhyme, alliteration, rhythm, etc.

Learning Gàidhlig? A wonderful study tool...

This is a wonderful collection of Gaelic poetry. I appreciate the "en face" presentation of Gaelic and English so that I can see a potential translation of words with which I am having trouble. There are five poets included in this anthology, so there are a nice variety of styles and a wide selection of topics. This is the only Gaelic poetry that I have ever read, so I cannot compare it stylistically, but I have really enjoyed the poems themselves, especially the works of Domhnall MacAmhlaigh. This anthology only includes male poets, so I will have to keep looking for an anthology that includes female poets.
